Carola Hesse

was born in Kassel, Germany and studied documentary film at Goldsmiths College, University of London where she successfully finished her Master of Arts Degree in 2005. During a longer stay in the Middle East she produced among other films a documentary about an Arab Bedouin settlement inside Israel's Negev desert. This film received an award from the One World Broadcasting Trust. 

 

Later she worked as a filmmaker on the mediaids campaign about HIV/Aids in India in collaboration with the German public service broadcaster Deutsche Welle, InterNews and the NGO formedia. In 2006 Carola lived for one year in India as the director's assistant on the documentary ".in for motion" by Anirban Datta. This documentary had its world premier in 2008 at the film festival IDFA

in Amsterdam.

 

Since 2008 she worked as a freelance author and film director mainly for the science and future magazine "nano" from the German public service broadcaster 3Sat.

 

Currently she works in Berlin as a certified EU fundraiser and campaigner for the Brussels based network AllianceForEurope promoting civic engagement for a more democratic and ecologically sustainable Europe.
